How to Blow Dry and Stretch Natural Hair (Without Breakage)
Like many natural women, my hair shrinks like crazy after washing it. If you are doing a hairstyle that requires your hair to be stretched out and blow dried here are some guidelines you can follow to avoid breakage.
- Spray your hair with a detangler
- Gently comb your hair with a wide tooth comb from the ends of the hair and work your way up
- After you have detangled your hair make sure you apply a heat protectant
- Blow dry and style!
In the video for my detangler and heat protectant I used Jane Carter Solution’s revitalizing leave in conditioner. This product detangles, protects from heat damage as well as sun damage! When I saw this product at Target I said to myself hey why not? It does a great job it helps with tangles and even helps me to stretch out my hair and to be honest I can’t live without it! I also use this product as a moisturizer when I do Wash n Go’s. I use a wide tooth comb and for the rough spots I gently comb the ends of my hair and then work my way up to the root to avoid damage. After my detangling process is complete I blow dried my hair using the Andis at Home Hair Dryer which was also purchased at Target for $19.99.
Shampoo with products that do not contain sulfates or any other harmful ingredients that strip the hair of moisture, go with products that are organic, and read the ingredients to ensure that the products are what they claim to be.
Natural hair is beautiful and is quite manageable as long as you are knowledgeable about your roots! Feel free to comment, question, or offer any suggestions.

Okay so I love this video. What I need to know is the model number of the hair dryer and how you heat up your Shea butter?
