4 Easy Tips for Detangling Natural Hair
1. Only use a WIDE-tooth comb to comb through wet hair, saturated with conditioner. NEVER comb through dry hair.
2. When combing wet hair start from the ends and gradually work your way to the roots. Do the reverse and it makes your job harder than it has to be not mention it’s extremely damaging to your hair.
3. If hair dries out during detangling spray hair with WARM water and then continue to comb through. Always have some sort of moisture going on, that will help you get the slip that you need to comb through your hair.
4. Co-washing: Detangle hair with conditioner in the shower from the ends to the root. Then two-strand twist each section. Once done detangling, rinse each twist of conditioner and style as desired. (Combing through dry hair is difficult and counterproductive.)
Proper detangling plays a huge role in the health of our hair. Natural hair, though to some may have a “strong” appearance, is extremely delicate. If you are experiencing a hefty amount of breakage and you feel like your hair is not growing detangling incorrectly may be the reason why. Using the improper technique will cause split ends, tangles, and overall unhealthy hair.
No matter what your hair texture is, I know these tips will make your hair healthier and your styling time shorter. Try it out and let us know what you think.

Combing from the ends up can’t be stressed enough. No matter how frustrated or short on time you are, have patience and do it the right way. Otherwise you’ll just cause tangles and breakage.
