Do you suffer from extremely dry hair after shampooing? Then co-washing may be the perfect option for you. Co-washing is a method of cleansing the hair using conditioner in place of shampoo. Shampoos can leave the hair dry and stripped of moisture because of the sulfates that are contained in them to remove product buildup and residue.
Why Co- Wash?
- It can make the detangling process easier for you
- Your hair isn’t left feeling too stripped or dried out
- It helps you retain more moisture in your hair
- Leaves your hair soft and more manageable
How Should Co-Washing be Implemented in my Hair Care Routine?
Co-Washing is a great way to clean your hair without stripping too much moisture away but it should not fully replace shampooing. Over time buildup may occur on your scalp from the products that you use, while conditioner does cleanse the hair and scalp, shampoos do a better job of effectively removing this buildup. For example, you may want to shampoo at least once a month, and the rest of the month co-wash by using your favorite conditioner as your cleanser.
