There are numerous natural recipes that you can make yourself out of items that are probably in your kitchen pantry already. As a result, these concoctions are not only really economical but also free of parabens and other toxic chemicals that could potentially damage not only your hair but also your health in the long run. Best of all, these masks really do increase the moisture level of your hair, and that’s exactly what curly hair needs during dry weather.

Banana Hair Mask

  • 1-3 jars of banana baby food (depending upon hair length)
  • 5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons honey

Blend ingredients together until smooth and place on damp hair. Then cover with a plastic cap and sit under a heating cap or hooded dryer for 15 to 30 minutes.

Note: Bananas in the baby food jars are recommended to prevent pieces of banana getting caught in the hair, unless you have a high powered blender that pulverizes foods into liquids.

Avocado Hair Mask

  • 1 whole avocado, seeded and peeled
  • 5-6 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

This hair mask is tried and true and ALWAYS increases the moisture level of hair. Again, best results occur when it is used with a heating cap or under a hooded dryer, although similar results can be achieved with a plastic cap and warm bath towel wrapped around the head.

Yogurt Hair Mask

  • 3 Tablespoons yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2-3 tablespoons coconut oil

Blend mixture together and apply to hair. Feel free to double the ingredient portions for longer hair, and lessen the portions for shorter hair.

Avocado Banana Mask

  • 1 whole avocado, seeded and peeled
  • 1-3 jars of banana baby food or puréed banana
  • 4-5 tbs olive oil
  • 2-3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon argan oil

Blend items thoroughly and apply to hair, covering with a plastic cap. Wrap with a warm towel and allow to sit on hair for 15-30 for maximum conditioning. Rinse thoroughly and cleanse.
