Tell us about yourself.
I’m Kaya and I’ve been natural for over 20 years. Since I went natural all those years ago, I’ve gotten more and more interested in living a natural lifestyle. That has extended to skincare, food, health and wellness, parenting and more.
I’m married with a young daughter and live in New Jersey.
I love to learn about how I can incorporate natural approaches in my life, and share what I find at naturallyyoumag.com.
What motivated you to start your company?
The idea for my natural hair journal came about after struggling with my hair after having my daughter. All of a sudden, my hair was dry, tangled, and breaking like crazy. I wasn’t sure what went wrong so I started writing down my regimen. This was such a game-changer for me that I just had to share it with the natural community.
So far the feedback has been very positive, which is encouraging!
Why do you think it is important that we start taking back the black hair industry?
The owners of the companies that make up the Black hair industry should reflect the consumers they serve. The Black community should benefit from the millions of dollars spent annually in this market.
