Itchy Scalp? Here are 5 Things to Try

Itchy Scalp? Here are 5 Things to Try

With cool weather on its way even if you do not normally have dry scalp you may find yourself with a case of the itchies. Here are some must try remedies for treating and soothing itchy scalp.

#1 Try using products with tea tree oil

Its refreshing tingle is just what your scalp needs to feel soothed. Here are some products with tea tree oil in it that you should try out.

Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner

Both of these products come at a reasonable price and do a wonderful job of giving you the relief that you need.

Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Deep Conditioner

This product is a little more pricey, but not only did I find this product soothing for my scalp, but it greatly improved my hair’s manageability allowing me to glide through the detangling process.

If you decide to use tea tree oil mix it with a light oil like jojoba and apply lightly because it is very potent.

#2 Do an ACV rinse

Apple Cider Vinegar may aid in killing the fungus that cause scalp issues.  Make sure you dilute Apple Cider Vinegar otherwise it will be irritating to your scalp. Use a 3 part water to 1 part ACV ratio. Apply this to your hair and scalp let it set for 10 to 15 minutes then rinse it out.

#3 Exfoliate your scalp to get rid of dead skin

My mix of ginger, lemon, honey, and Epsom salt exfoliates and clears my skin beautifully and will work great for scalp exfoliation as well. You can use sugar instead of salts if you want a more mild exfoliant.

#4 Hot Oil Treatments

Warm up some oil in the microwave for a few seconds. Let it cool so that is nice and warm but able to be applied to your scalp without discomfort. Let it sit on your hair for up to 3o minutes, rinse out with a moisturizing shampoo and follow up with conditioning.

#5 Avoid clogging your pores

While your scalp could use a little extra lubricants during this season do not over do it. When you clog your pores you will make your scalp issues even worse.
